About

The Wickham Rural Life Center, which opened in the summer of 2017, showcases farm life, pre-electricity coming to the area, circa 1875-1925. Artifacts on display include a kitchen set-up with an original Hoosier cabinet and a semi-modern oven, manufactured in Geneva, N.Y. The oven used both wood and coal for cooking convenience. A washing machine in which one would agitate clothes by hand and a butter churn that was hand-cranked are here. Milk bottles from local dairies line some shelves. The farm area features many hand tools of daily farming, including a dog-operated treadmill, a bean sorter and an apple slicer. Tools of all types and uses round out the displays.
